Medea Attica is a new play based on the second half of the Ancient Greek Medea myth, written in the style of traditional ancient greek plays.
Plot Summary
Medea, having killed her children and revenged herself on her lover Jason, has made her way to Athens and sanctuary, which has been given to her by her King Aegeus.
Medea, however, in fear of being powerless ever again and running from her actions in Corinth, begins to eye the ultimate prize - the throne of Athens itself, to make sure she is forever in control of her life and will be safe. King Aegeus, meanwhile, struggles with the fear of being childless and without an heir, but leaves himself open to an infidelity and his desire for Medea, that will ultimately help Medea to the throne she so craves. However, will Medea be able to survive, and can she really have the true power she craves?
Medea Attica a play that explores our human response to isolation, powerlessness, anger, the question of who is allowed to control power, along with the damage that that power can inflict on others and ourselves, and trying to understand all of ourselves and the extremes we may go to.
